Namibia Ends Visa-Free Travel for U.S. and 32 Other Countries

Namibia has ended visa-free entry for nationals of over 30 countries, including the United States. U.S. citizens are now required to obtain a visa prior to entering Namibia. This policy change is attributed to the lack of reciprocal visa arrangements for Namibian passport holders.

To facilitate this, Namibia has implemented the following for countries affected by the recent policy change.

Online e-Visa Application
Travelers can apply in advance through Namibia’s official e-Visa portal: https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na. This platform allows applicants to complete the process remotely and receive approval before departure. Applicants must carry a printed copy of their e-Visa approval when traveling.

2. Visa On Arrival
Alternatively, travelers can obtain a visa upon arrival at designated ports of entry, including Hosea Kutako International Airport and Walvis Bay International Airport. The visa fee is N$1,600 (approximately US$88), and travelers should ensure they have all necessary documents, such as a valid passport with at least six months’ validity and three blank pages, proof of accommodation, travel itinerary, and, if applicable, an invitation letter.

These measures aim to streamline the visa application process and maintain Namibia’s appeal as a travel destination, despite the new visa requirements.
