SPECIAL INTERVIEWS
Can you tell us about yourself and your course and its significance?
My name is Oura Caroline. I am 24 years old and a student in the Department of English at Félix Houphouët-Boigny’s University in Côte d’Ivoire.
There are several issues in my field of study, not least the fact that we are a French-speaking country where English is taught.
Can you tell us how it is to survive as
a youth in Ivory Coast?
Surviving as a young person in Côte d’Ivoire is not always as easy as in other African countries. But as far as I’m concerned, I try to do as much as I can with training, voluntary work, and, above all, information.
What advice do you have for every youth in Ivory Coast?
For each young person, I can say that you don’t have to wait for the state to find a job or funding. You need to get informed and, above all, do voluntary work to learn the skills you don’t learn at school.
